Wow! We’re live. And we’re so incredibly overjoyed!
We want to take the opportunity in this first ever Adelita Mia blog post to tell you a bit about our brand. Adelita Mia blossomed from a passion Wilma and I both have to share artisan and one-of-a-kind pieces made in Central and South America. With personal ties to several of the countries we will feature in our store (my husband was born and raised in Mexico City, Wilma’s family is from Brazil and she herself spent some of her childhood years living there, and Wilma’s husband was born and raised in Peru), we have both spent years loving the culture and arts of our homes away from home.
Beyond sharing our passion, we wanted to create an avenue for not only supporting artists by featuring their handmade pieces, but by giving back to these inspiring places we so love. With every product you purchase, Adelita Mia donates to charities and programs making an impact in the communities our artisans live in. We look forward to sharing stories of our charitable giving as we grow.
And then there’s our name. During the time of the Mexican Revolution, the role of the woman in the war emerged as a symbol of strength due to their active participation in battle. Today, it is said that an “Adelita” is a symbol of action and inspiration. The majority of Adelita Mia’s artisans and partners are women. We are committed to their success and growth. For us, they truly are our Adelitas.
Thank you for stopping by Adelita Mia as we begin this new story. We can’t wait to see your Adelita style! #MyAdelitaStyle
